Week Two: Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans

Location: Nashville Stadium  Nashville, TN

Kick-off time: 1:00 pm ET

Broadcast: CBS

Key injuries: Freddie Keiaho will likely not play because of his sore elbow. This means we get our first real look at Tyjuan Hagler, a guy Bill Polian has raved about for years. Tim Jennings is also out, as is Charlie Johnson.

The keys to the game:

  • Bob Sanders and The Bob Sanders Beatdown Defense (BSBD). Will the Colts work out of a Cover 3, practically daring Vince Young to throw? I don't know. What I do know is Bob will have an impact on the game, and may very well be the difference between winning and losing. The BSBD punishes ballcarriers and makes they go whoopsie! with the football. Bob will make a big play or two in this game.
  • Tony Ugoh, once again. It's not just him, but the whole protection scheme. Fisher and his defensive coaches will likely load up on that side and test the rookie. They'll look to blitz Peyton from his backside, and blitz the run. Ugoh did a fine job last week against DE Will Smith and the Saints' blitzes. Now, he gets DE Kyle Vanden Bosh. It doesn't get any easier, rookie. Ugoh will have his hands full, and the o-line will need to help him when they can. The Titans safeties are not that good, and if Peyton has time his receivers will kill them for big gains.
  • Special teams. Pacman Jones is now going to the mat for the WWE and not returning punts or kicks for the Titans. However, the Colts continue to make me lose sleep over their coverage units. They must do their job today, or I'll lose my mind.

I'd seriously like to thank the Titans fans who've come here to talk trash and a little football all throughout the week. Even though some of you might have trouble "respecting me" because I might not think certain players on the Titans are good, please know I respect your fan moxie and your excitement for your team. If I were in your shoes, I'd probably be the same way. It's nice to have some friendly blog readers here spicing up this rivalry. Thank you for coming here and writing.

As always, for a Titans fan's POV, please check out Jimmy's work over at Music City Miracles. Jimmy's got his fellow Titans fans geared up and ready for this. They even took offense to our taking offense to their team not respecting our team:

Our team actually thinks they can stay on the field with them and that is just not acceptable. We are supposed to bow down to them and just give them a win. Thinking you can play with them is blasphemy.
Well, it's not quite that, Jimmy. There's a fine line between being confident and being cocky. The Titans have crossed it, and it's made the Champs mad. The Titans are acting a bit to full of themselves, and both they and their fans have had this game circled on their calendar since December. The funny thing is, even though the Colts won the Super Bowl, the team and we fans have had this day circled as well. The Titans are allowing a chainsaw whelding madman into their house today. The Champs are angry, and they will indeed take that anger out on the Titans. That said, here's to a good, clean game with no injuries. Far too many injuries last week for many teams. No one wants to see that happen here.

Go Colts!
