Orange Bowl Open Thread

Only 3 college football games remain, only 2 between top 10 teams. Iowa and Georgia Tech is a showcase of strength on strength. A Georgia Tech offense that averages 35.3 points per game faces an Iowa D that gives up just 15.5 a game. Top prospects face off as well with Iowa LT Bryan Bulaga facing off against Georgia Tech DE Derrick Morgan. Both juniors are projected top 20 picks if they leave school early. On the other side of the ball GT WR Demaryius Thomas is a premier deep threat averaging 25.1 yards per reception, using his 6'3" 229lb frame to consistently come down with jump balls. He'll be facing off against Iowa CB Amari Spievey another serious NFL prospect who is a physical player even for an Iowa DB. Tasked with disrupting the GT option attack, headlined by likely 1st round running back Jonathan Dwyer, is Iowa's 1st team All-Big Ten defensive end Adrian Clayborn. Clayborn chose to pass up the draft despite a season of consistent backfield disruption with 18 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, 9 QB hurries and 4 fumbles forced. Iowa will need Clayborn to get into the backfield quickly and consistently to throw off GTs triple option attack.

All the strength vs strength will be contrasted when Iowa's offense takes the field against GTs D. Iowa's O ranked 86th in FCS at 23.1 points per game, while GTs D (despite having two top 50 NFL prospects), ranks 56th in FCS giving up 24.8 points per game.

The game is broadcast on Fox with kickoff at 8pm eastern.
