Week Seven: Bye Week For Colts- Open Thread

Rough week in Indiana sports. It started with the Colts injury news on Friday. Dallas Clark is gone for 2010. Antonio Johnson is out indefinitely after knee surgery. And now Austin Collie is out for several weeks with a thumb-wrist injury. Again, that was Friday.

Yesterday, we all saw Purdue, Indiana, and Notre Dame get destroyed by rivals Ohio State, Illinois, and Navy, respectively. Hell, even the Colts developmental league team (aka, Iowa) lost by one point to Wisconsin. Somewhere, Joe Baker is still crying in his pillow.

Just a crap-tastic weekend of Indiana sports all around. To read about it all, visit SB Nation Indiana.

But, just because things were grim the last two days doesn't mean we can't enjoy today. Key games on tap today as the Colts (hopefully) rest up during their bye week are Jaguars at Chiefs, Eagles at Titans, and Patriots at Chargers.

[UPDATE]: Via Adam Schefter:

Indianapolis Colts receiver Anthony Gonzalez, who is being counted on to help replace Austin Collie, who recently underwent thumb surgery and will likely miss a few weeks, recently tweaked the high ankle sprain that he had been nursing since early in the season, according to a source familiar with the situation.

It does not appear to be a major injury at this time, but it is notable considering what the Colts receivers have gone through in recent days.

Want to know why people like me keep saying Gonzo is gone after this season? It's because the guy simply cannot stay healthy. Not a draft 'bust,' but certainly yet another draft disappointment for the Colts and Bill Polian in recent years.
