Jerraud Powers Could Be Back By The Playoffs, If The Colts Get There UPDATE Nevermind- Powers To IR

This Tweet just popped up via the Indianapolis Star:

Source tells @indystar that #Colts DB Jerraud Powers had surgery on broken arm. Might return in time for playoffs.

Obviously, we shouldn't get our hopes up. Everyone was saying Bob Sanders would be back by the San Diego Chargers game, and that didn't happen. Like Sanders, Powers has not been placed on the injured reserve list.

The optimist in me says the Colts win out, get the fourth seed, and host a playoff game with key people like Sanders, Powers, Joseph Addai, and Austin Collie all back and healthy.

The pessimist in me still looks at this offensive line and tells me it doesn't matter who comes back. When a team can't block, it can't do much of anything.

Here's to optimism.

[UPDATE]: Optimism gets smacked in the head with a shovel held by ESPN's Adam Shefter:

Colts signed free agent running back Dominic Rhodes and placed defensive back Jerraud Powers on injured reserve with an arm injury.

Powers is done for the year.
