One of the most improved players in 2009 was defensive tackle Antonio Johnson. Johnson, nicknamed "Mookie," anchored the Colts d-line for the entire season. He played in every game, and really solidified a position that had given us fans nightmares these past few years.
He was signed off the Tennessee Titans practice squad in 2008 after the Colts cut Ed Johnson the first time. I still do not understand how the Titans let this guy go. The could have used him last season.
Anyway, like Daniel Muir and Melvin Bullitt, Mookie Johnson signed his restricted free agent tender the other day. This means he will be back with the Colts in 2010, shoring up a run defense that is much improved.
