This defense is getting old fast and they need some youth at all three levels. I really wanted to go with a CB here, but Green Bay grabbed Patrick Robinson just before I could. I could reach for Dominique Franks, but his awareness/instincts worry me. There are some good CBs who would be available in the third who could do really well since Ed Reed would have their back!
Arthur Jones is not the most athletic DT out there, but in a 3-4 he does not have to be. They need someone to eat up blockers, so Terrell Suggs can get after the QB. Jones is a versatile line player and would bring some youth to this DLine which is desperately needed (Trevor Price is 34 and Kelly Gregg is 33). Arthur Jones has the strength to play NT and could really help break down runs at LE. He has a little bit of an injury history which is probably why he is still available. If he can stay healthy he has a lot of potential.
How will he impact the 2010 Ravens?
I don't see Jones as an opening day starter but I see him ending the season with as many snaps as the DLine starters. Jones could be put into that DLine rotation and they shouldn't miss a beat. Working with someone like Ngata will help the maturation process (technique, moves) and being around Ray Lewis and Ed Reed should help his football IQ. No rookie pro bowl honors, but a solid contributor and a possible future anchor for this defense. If he blooms quickly, that DLine is one player away from the sickest 3-4 line in the league!
