The Jets need a 3-4 defensive end, and Carrington is the best on the board. He has perfect size and technique as a 5-tech 3-4 defensive end. No matter where he goes he will be a force against the run. With the Jets defense improved against the pass by trading for Cromartie and getting rid of the overrated Kerry Rhodes, improving the run defense and getting younger should be a top priority.
How will he impact the 2010 Jets?
Carrington will help the Jets get younger at defensive end. Shaun Ellis is 33-years-old and injury prone. The Jets can't count on him anymore. Carrington would be a solid backup and a future starter for the New York Jets, and he would help them reach the Super Bowl they seem so close to.
