The Saints need to address the RB position in this Draft, they lost Mike Bell to Phialdelphia, with their second pick the Saints select running back, Toby Gerhart RB Stanford 6-0 231. Gerhart is a Power back has vision with a nice burst and has quick enough feet to run through traffic. Gerhart has the power and strength to get three or four extra yards once wrapped up by multiple defenders and keeps his feet moving this is what the highlights reel will show of Toby in the NFL. Gerhart impressed scouts at the combine to solidify his status as one of the top tailbacks in the draft with a good 40-yard-dash time, combined with impressive results in the vertical leap, bench press place Gerhart highly among tailbacks.

Gerhart will change a lot of minds once he gets his hands on the ball. In the last two seasons, he rushed for more than 3,000 yards and everyone knew where the ball was going and he still managed to run the ball. For the Saints he will be hard-working athlete, who will take a pounding, he has the size and strength to succeed in pass protection which will help Brees and will use his stiff-arm to keep defenders from cutting him down. As a receiver he has good hands which will help the Saints and Coach Payton will utilise Gerharts skills to give the Saints a change on offense.

How will he impact the 2010 Saints?

The Saints will give Gerhart the ball in certain situations in his rookie year, he will not carry the ball every down as the Saints are a great passing team and still have Pierre Thomas at the moment. Gerhart does a great job picking up blitzes and does a nice job as a blocker. Gerhart will work his way into the no. 2 role as a power back as well as having the ability and skills to play on third downs.
(The Colts could have used Gerhart at the end of the secong quarter in the Superbowl).
