Dr. Blue's Health of the Franchise - Kevin Thomas

Our series continues with the 3rd round pick of the 2010 draft, Kevin Thomas.

Kevin Thomas, CB

Date of Injury: 2006, 2007

Nature of Injury: 2006 - sprained ankle, broken foot; 2007 - sprained left shoulder

Typical Rehab Process/Duration: Sprained ankle - "RICE" (rest, ice, compression, elevation) for 2-6 weeks, depending on severity; broken foot - cast then rehab for 8-12 weeks; sprained left shoulder - usually just RICE, but in Thomas' case surgery was required, followed by a season's worth of rehab

Players who have suffered similar injuries:  Donald Brown, Aaron Rodgers

In addition to the reported injuries, I may have to question Thomas' brain function, as he names Deion Sanders his "favorite athlete of all time."  But then I remembered that differences of opinion make the world go 'round, and frankly this kid seems like a good character choice.  Ok back to the question of his health...

Similar to Angerer, Thomas sat out most of 2 seasons due to injuries - a broken foot in 2006 ended his season after appearances in 4 games, and a sprained shoulder suffered prior to spring practice required surgery and caused him to redshirt his junior season before it began.

Also like Angerer, Thomas showed his durability, coming back in his junior season to play in all games, and he started all games his senior year.  I admit I am a bit concerned that the foot and shoulder could keep Thomas' career short, but hopefully he's shown the last two years that he has fully recovered and will be a contributor for us right away.

Dr. Blue's Prognosis - Likelihood of Game 1 Appearance: Medium due to experience, but healthy enough to do so if required
