Reggie Wayne issued this statement to ESPN's Adam Shefter:
"I have tremendous respect for Jim Irsay, Bill Polian and the entire Indianapolis Colts organization, but at this time, we are in disagreement concerning my contract situation," Wayne said in an e-mailed statement. "Therefore, I will not be attending this weekend's minicamp."I will continue training diligently in Florida, as I have each offseason since my rookie year, to ensure that I am fully ready for this season," he wrote. "I hope that a fair resolution can be reached in the not-too-distant future that allows me to achieve my goal of playing my entire career with the Indianapolis Colts."
As Gregg Rosenthal of PFT stated earlier, that's very polite Reggie. However, no offense, but we Colts fans don't really have much sympathy for you. And regardless of whether or not you and the Colts disagree over your contract, your butt should be at mini-camp.
Oh, and if you think the Colts are going to make your contract re-negotiation a priority, what with Peyton Manning due an extension and Antoine Bethea playing for what amounts to peanuts when compared to other Pro Bowl safeties, you're out of your mind.
Mini-camp opens tomorrow.
