2010 Colts Training Camp: Notes from the nineteenth practice (Aug. 13)

The 90 degree sun beat down on Anderson this afternoon as the Colts held their (likely) final full pads practice before their opening preseason game Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. Brett Mock of Coltzilla was in attendance, along with a few other peeps, and was Tweeting the practicing goodness:

  • Practice started with Adam Vinatieri hitting field goals from 50, 55, and 58 yards out.
  • Keyunta Dawson, Dwight Freeney, Ramon Humber, Gary Brackett, Clint Session, and (you guessed it) Anthony Gonzalez all sat out. Something is wrong with Gonzo, sleeve or no sleeve.
  • On punt return drills, it was Brandon James first, Ray Fisher second, and Devin Moore third.
  • Dallas Clark stood on the sidelines with his leg wrapped.
  • Mike Hart is an excellent gunner on special teams. Primarily, this is why the Colts like having him on the roster.
  • For the players, this one was one of the harder practices. Melvin Bullitt Tweeted: "Practice was a lot tougher than I thought we needed it tho..gotta be ready Sunday!"
  • Good day for Devin Moore. He stood out. Extremely fast player. For a guy so small, he makes up for it with speed and effort. Runs with authority.
  • When practice started, Peyton Manning did not like the sluggishness of the offense. "Pick up the tempo!" he yelled.
  • Run blocking looked improved.
  • Eric Foster had a nice run stuff up the middle.
  • Ramon Humbler had a good day. Flying all over the field. For whatever reason, he wore a green jersey.
  • Gijon Robinson looks faster and slimmer than in years past.
  • Javarris James had a nice TD reception. The kid has good receiving skills. Must run in the family.
  • A Brandon King sighting! He broke up a pass intended for Taj Smith. King needs to stand out in pre-season. So far in camp, he hasn't impressed.
  • Looks like Terrail Lambert is healthy again. He practiced and made an INT off Tim Hiller.
  • Brody Eldridge had another impressive practice. Several excellent receptions. Colts clearly want to use him as a Ken Dilger-style TE.
  • A TD from Peyton to Jacob Tamme ended the practice.
