The Colts offense and defense had their way with the 49ers for the first two series of the game. On defense, Indy created a very early turnover; a Michael Robinson fumble on the first carry of the game caused by Antoine Bethea. The Colts converted that turnover into a 21-yard Adam Vinatieri field goal.
After the Colts stopped the 49ers on a 3rd and 1 on San Fran’s own 38 yard line, the Colts offense got the football at their own 11 yard line. Manning and the offense drove 89 yards, capping the drive with a nine-yard Joseph Addai touchdown.
If there is a cause for concern it is the Colts run blocking has been sub-par at best. After Alex Smith threw an INT that was returned for 48 yards by Jerraud Powers, the 49ers responded by picking off Colts back-up Curtis Painter and returning it 90 yards for a score.
