The Colts had their first night practice of training camp scheduled this evening, but the storm clouds and the threat of lightning forced team officials to cancel the event. The team announced to fans that the night practice would be moved to tomorrow evening (August 5th) at 7:30pm Eastern. A special teams practice is also scheduled for tomorrow, but in the morning (9:30am).

Prior to the Colts canceling the night event, Matt "mgrex03" Grecco and other folks like Eric Hartz of ColtPower.com got a glimpse of some special teams work that was done. Here are some of their observations:

  • Adam Vinatieri is healthy. He was nailing 50-yard field goals. Pat McAfee was so jazzed about it he Tweeted that "The Legend" had returned
  • Like tonight's practice, tomorrow's evening event will be in full pads.

More after the jump...

  • Devin Moore was one of the first players on the field. He was practicing fielding punts using a machine.
  • Pierre Garcon, Brandon King, and Jerraud Powers were fielding punts later as more players took the field.
  • Also fielding punts later were Brandon James, Blair White, and Anthony Gonzalez.
  • Gonzo said that fielding punts was new to him, but helpful in his receiving skills. If you can catch a wobbly punt, you can catch anything.
  • No one seemingly saw Ray Fisher returning punts. In fact, I have yet to hear anyone tell me they've seen Ray Fisher returning kicks or punts these last two days.

We'll get a bit more tomorrow after the special teams morning practice if we can. If you are attending camp tomorrow night and have a Twitter account, let us know!
