Lots has been talked about regarding the matchups of the Colts run defense vs the jets run game and vice versa. That is an important matchup but I don't believe its the biggest key. Yes we have to be able to run the ball but I don't think we have to run for more than the jets. If we can run it "When we need to" that is good enough. I believe that in order for us to win we need to get off to a strong start and put points on the board early. I think the longer the game becomes a tight game the less chance we have to win. A tight game plays into the hands of the Jets. A game where we can get up 10+ points early plays into our hands.
So, protection is key, effective running(not necessarily a 100+ game), and winning the turnover battle will result favorable for us but I still don't think it's going to guarantee a win. The jets defense matches up much better to our offense this year for several reasons. The absence of Austin Collie is huge. Blair White is going to have to have a break out game. Blair White has been solid this year but he is not Austin Collie.
