2011 Mock Draft: Mel Kiper Says Colts Go Left Tackle

Ah yes. It's March, and that means it's time to drag out the old YouTube clips of former Colts executive Bill Tobin asking the now famous question, 'Who is Mel Kiper?' But, instead of posting the normal clip everyone knows by heart (mainly because it's been taken off YouTube), here's some of the follow-up stuff Tobin had to say about Kiper way back in 1994 (when yours truly was a freshman in college).

And speaking of Mel, he released his mock draft update today for the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Not surprisingly, Mel has the Colts taking a left tackle: Anthony Castonzo, OT, Boston College. Kiper thinks Castonzo is smart and has great feet. He also thinks (and this is a shocker to most of you, I'm sure) that tackle is a position of 'need' for the Colts.

At this point, the only mock draft 'news' would be if someone has the Colts taking a player that isn't a tackle.

Should the Colts follow Mel Kiper's advice, Bill Polian would be breaking a nearly 20 year trend of never taking a left tackle in the first round.

Personally, I like TouchdownColts' mock draft a bit better than Mel's. But, that's just me.
