As announced previously in this space, XFINITY from Comcast has generously agreed to support the best NFL community around -- us! As part of that effort, XFINITY will be sponsoring our Stampede Blue's training camp coverage as well as a variety of special editorial and interactive features on our site between now and the end of the 2011 NFL season.
Articles of this kind pull together notes and observations from Colts beat writers, bloggers, and fans who attend camp and watch practices. If you are at camp and have access to Twitter, tweet us what you see @stampedeblue.
Notes from morning practice (special thanks to the outstanding tweets from @andrewmishler):
- Jeff Linkenbach is working as the starting left tackle. Don't read too much into this. Linkenbach played last year. Anthony Castonzo is a rookie who was signed just yesterday.
- Dwight Freeney was killing Linkenbach, as Dwight Freeney should.
- Drake Nevis is starting along the defensive line. Important to note that Fili Moala is hurt and Tommie Harris cannot play until tomorrow due to CBA.
- Phil Wilson quotes Jim Caldwell on Castonzo playing at left tackle: 'That’s where he was yesterday when he got in. That’s where he’s going to be and we just anticipate that he’s going to continue to get better.'
- Phil Wilson quotes Caldwell on if Colts are done in free agency: 'Never say never.'
- Phil Wilson quotes Caldwell on Colts acquiring Tommie Harris: 'I don't think there's any question about it, he's going to help us.'
- Practice was in shirts and shorts
Tonight is the night practice at 7:30 p.m.
