Over the weekend, Jim Irsay tweeted this:
Stampedblue and Jon Bauges/random or silly tweets,they r not..ur not hearing what I’m saying..riddle n codes r done4a reason,but it’s there.
This tweet was made after the Colts owner made a somewhat cryptic tweet about how other teams have overcome quarterback injuries to win a Super Bowl:
There was the Rams-K Warner Sup year./ There was Patriot 2001-Brady Sup.year.— Every year. is interesting n unpredictable in NFL!!!!
Another ominous Irsay tweet:
Weather forecast ever changing...ominous storm clouds gathering...it never rains under my umbrella....
I agree with Gregg Rosenthal at PFT: Jim Irsay is indeed freaking out Colts fans. Regardless, it is appreciated that the Colts owner mentioned us and that he is making some kind of effort to inform fans.
All these tweets came prior to Jon Michael Vincent (JMV) at 1070 The Fan tweeting last night that Peyton Manning will have a third surgery on his neck, putting his entire 2011 season in doubt. Nate Dunlevy at 18to88.com is now citing unnamed sources and claiming Peyton will have surgery and his season is over.
You might remember last year when Nate wrote a rather nasty article aimed at me after I cited unnamed sources when reporting that Peyton had injured his neck-shoulder last year after a Week One loss to the Texans. So, yeah. Nate's kind of a hypocrite. That said, I believe him here because he is, essentially, reporting the exact same thing JMV reported.
So, while nothing is official yet, the news for Peyton in 2011 does not look good. Things only got more cryptic and uneasy after Jim Irsay tweeted this early this morning:
News is just news...what makes it good or bad is what we make of it
