On Monday, Colts head coach Chuck Pagano returns to the hospital for his second round of cancer treatments, including chemotherapy. However, today coach gets a much welcome reprieve from his recovery regiment. Instead of watching team on TV from a hospital bed or his living room couch, coach will get to see today's home game against the Dolphins from the coaches box.
Pagano is in the building at Lucas Oil Stadium today, and he will be watching the game there with owner Jim Irsay.
It's unclear if Pagano will address the team at some point today. Bob Kravitz says he won't.
Regardless, it's a very positive sign for Pagano that, at this point, he is healthy enough to attend a game. On Monday, the new treatments will likely make it harder for him to attend games this season, and it is doubtful he will coach again in 2012. The important thing for him is to focus on the treatments, follow the doctor's orders, and rest.
Having Pagano at Lucas Oil Stadium will likely give the Colts a big lift. That lift isn't just something they can take into the game. It's inspiration that will help everyone from players, to fans, to anyone that is currently battling cancer or has a loved one who is.
