With the draft over, this is typically the time of year (outside of the end of the regular season) where we see some pretty significant front office adjustments from many teams. Nothing so dramatic as, say, a general manager getting fired (though that has been known to happen), but usually it's scouts and personnel executives either getting hired, fired, or promoted.
In the case of the Colts, it was first reported by Adam Caplan that Cardinals director of player personnel T.J. McCreight would being leaving the desert for Indianapolis. The Colts have now confirmed that McCreight is their new director of college scouting. Prior to his four year stint in Arizona, McCreight was with the Cleveland Browns for four years and the Baltimore Ravens before that. This seems to suggest some sort of connection with current Colts head coach Chuck Pagano, who also had stints in Baltimore and Cleveland around the time McCreight was there.
It's worth noting that Tom Telesco, a hold over from the Polian regime and a good friend of former Colts G.M. Chris Polian, was promoted to vice president of football operations back in February. Telesco is the former director of player personnel for the Colts, and was a candidate for their G.M. job, which eventually went to Ryan Grigson.
Thus, the way the hierarchy seems to be at West 56th Street is Grigson is the head personnel boss while Telesco (his subordinate) is the V.P. pf football ops, which oversees McCreight and the scouts.
In addition to hiring McCreight, the Colts hired Dave Razzano and Ahmad Russell as Area Scouts. They also promoted Andrew Berry to the Pro Scouting Coordinator and Todd Vasvari to the Assistant Director of College Scouting.
The Colts front office has seen changes the last two years. Prior to the start of the 2011 season, longtime director of player personnel Clyde Powers was fired by Chris Polian and, essentially, was replaced by Polian's brother, Dennis. In January 2012, Jim Irsay fired Bill and Chris Polian. In March, Ryan Grigson fired Dennis over the phone. Jim Irsay also promoted his three daughters to the role of "vice chairman," the title previously held by Bill Polian the two seasons before he was canned.
