You can now cross off the Eagles as a possible destination for Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians. The Eagles have officially announced that they will hire Oregon coach Chip Kelly as their new head coach. Chris Mortensen of ESPN first broke the story.
The news on Kelly and the Eagles broke after reports hit Twitter that the Bears will hire Marc Trestman, the CFL head coach of the Montreal Alouettes, as their head coach. Trestman interviewed for the Colts head coaching vacancy last year.
All this breaking news regarding Kelly and Trestman is interesting because it now looks very likely that Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians will not be leaving Indianapolis. Arians was considered a "finalist" for the Chicago job, and he had ties to the Philadelphia area. After losing out on the San Diego and Cleveland jobs as well, it seems as if Arians' best option is to stay in Indy.
