We got word from Kevin Acee earlier this week that the Chargers seem interested in interviewing Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians for their vacant head coaching job. However, Arians might not be the only Colts employee they wish to poach.
Per a story from John Gennaro, writer at Bolts From The Blue, Colts Vice President of Football Operations Tom Telesco will interview for the vacant general manager job in San Diego as well. John's story cited a report from NFL Network's Albert Breer.
Telesco is a holdover from the Bill Polian regime, and he even interviewed for the Colts G.M. job that eventually went to Ryan Grigson. Telesco was, however, promoted within the organization after not getting the G.M. job, and both Grigson and Chuck Pagano have spoken well of him throughout the season. Pagano, in particular, credited Telesco's calm presence during the NFL Draft last year.
Should Telesco get the Chargers G.M. job, that could likely mean San Diego will push hard to hire Arians as their head coach. Chuck Pagano has already stated publicly that the Colts cannot afford to lose Arians, but if Telesco is in SD along with quarterback Philip Rivers and defensive coordinator John Pagano (brother of Chuck), that might be too good of a job for Arians to pass up.
Telesco has been with the Colts organization since Bill Polian was hired as president back in 1998. He also worked for Bill in Carolina, and is known to be friends with former Colts G.M. and son of Bill, Chris Polian.
