2013 NFL Winning Stats Predictor Picks: Week 8

I hope you all took advantage of the great week last week picking winners. I can't promise that again.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

A nice breakthrough week for the Predictor picking winners last week, as it went 12-3 Straight Up, including the Colts win over the Broncos. And of the three losses, only one of them was really wrong (Vikings over Giants). The Ravens lost at the horn by a field goal, and the Patriots "pushed" their way to a loss in OT. Can't say I'm too disappointed in that one. On the season Straight Up record is 69-38.

Against the Spread was 7-8, bringing our season record back to .500 at 52-52-3. Last year I was well below average at this point in the season, and it's always done better later in the season (as it gets more data). I'm hoping it can get up close to 55%. Let's start this week (and it's off to a good start).

Picks for Week 8, where the closest game it says is 2 points. I hope it means more winners with less close games predicted:

Home Score Away Score Probability
Buccaneers 15 Panthers 28 80.7%
Jaguars 12 49ers 29 88.1%
Chiefs 18 Browns 11 67.3%
Patriots 19 Dolphins 21 54.7%
Saints 26 Bills 17 73.7%
Lions 24 Cowboys 26 54.4%
Eagles 24 Giants 21 56.8%
Bengals 22 Jets 18 60.5%
Raiders 23 Steelers 18 63.1%
Cardinals 29 Falcons 24 61.6%
Broncos 30 Redskins 23 67.4%
Vikings 15 Packers 31 85.9%
Rams 20 Seahawks 29 72.3%

Super Contest was a disappointing 2-3 last week, bringing season total to 18-17. I forgot to make public my desire to place the Panthers in my top 5 before the game Thursday, so I'll pick another game. But rest assured that was easy money Thursday night. Tampa plays in Seattle next week. I'd give a boatload of points no problem.

  • Dolphins +6.5 at Patriots
  • Raiders +2.5 vs. Steelers
  • Redskins +12.5 at Broncos
  • Packers -9.5 at Vikings
  • Rams +10.5 vs. Seahawks
