Since today is Friday (hooray!) that means that today is also the most important injury report day for the Colts (aww...). Today is no different and with the final injury report before Sunday's game being released, we'll take a look at it. The full report is listed below, with analysis following.
OUT:
- Ahmad Bradshaw, RB (neck)
- Stanley Havili, FB (ankle)
- Ricky Jean Francois, DT (groin)
- LaRon Landry, S (ankle)
- Bjoern Werner, OLB (foot)
PROBABLE:
- Vontae Davis, CB (foot)
- Delano Howell, S (toe)
- Hugh Thornton, OG (shoulder)
NOTES:
- None of the players ruled out should come as a surprise. Ahmad Bradshaw's situation has been much discussed already and today Chuck Pagano said that Bradshaw has visited with several doctors and that he will take the next few weeks to decide whether to try to let it heal on its own or whether to undergo surgery that would in all likelihood end his season. Regardless, he will obviously be out for the next few weeks at least and it is continuing to sound more and more likely that he will be lost for the year.
- LaRon Landry and Ricky Jean Francois are both expected back next week, per Pagano. Landry made an appearance in the locker room today and informed the media that he has been dealing with a grade two high ankle sprain - why the Colts couldn't have just told us that a few weeks ago, I don't know, but that's what Landry has been dealing with.
- If you recall, Pagano announced earlier this week that Werner will miss 4-6 weeks with a torn planter fascia in his foot. So no surprise he is out this week and he will be out for the next few as well.
- Earlier this week the Colts signed fullback Robert Hughes, which indicated that Havili might be out. It turns out that he is. Chuck Pagano said today that "you should see [Hughes] at running back" and that he will be the team's third running back behind Trent Richardson and Donald Brown despite him being a fullback.
- The three players listed as probable are the three players on the list that the Colts really needed back, so that is good news. Obviously, having Vontae Davis out there is huge. With Landry's status in doubt, Delano Howell was an important player this weekend for the Colts and with Landry officially ruled out that makes Howell's importance even greater. Howell has filled in really nicely for Landry and played very well, and the Colts will need him to do so again. Lastly, Hugh Thornton has done a great job this year since being thrust into the starting lineup when Donald Thomas as lost for the year in week two. Thornton has played very well and it is huge for the line that he is out there.
- One other note that doesn't have to do with the injury report but with someone's status for Sunday's game is that Chuck Pagano said that they have not yet made a decision on wide receiver LaVon Brazill's status. Brazill was activated this week after serving a four game suspension.
