Honestly just minutes ago the story broke that Ahmad Bradshaw would be out for the season due to his neck injury that would require surgery.
The Colts have now made it official, announcing that Bradshaw has been placed on season-ending injured reserve. They also announced that they have cut fullback Robert Hughes and waived running back Kerywnn Williams from the practice squad.
The Colts now have two roster spots available. They also have only two running backs on their 53-man roster and one fullback. That would seem to be the obvious area to be addressed, but they waived the back that we thought they would sign when they cut Kerwynn Williams from the practice squad.
Certainly, the team will add a running back. There's no doubt about that, the question now is who that running back will be. Several have suggested a trade may be in the works, and opening up two roster spots could indicate that, but I highly doubt it. They already traded for Trent Richardson. They're not trading for another.
So that means it will probably be a free agent. And then the question of whether they'll sign one or two? They have two spots open?
One last note regarding the release of Robert Hughes (who the team used as their third running back on Sunday, suggesting even more so that they will bring in another back), it should indicate that Stanley Havili is ready to return this week. That would be earlier than I expected, but obviously it would be good news.
The Colts made three roster moves this afternoon, but they didn't clear anything up. In fact, they just made it more confusing. The Colts have two roster spots open. Who do you think they will/should sign?
