Leave it to Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star to dump an ice cold lake on the raging bonfire that was Greg Jennings potentially signing with the Indianapolis Colts:
For those linking #colts to Packers WR Greg Jennings, Indy has not expressed an interest. I totally trust the source.
— Mike Chappell (@mchappell51) March 12, 2013
Well, "those linking" Jennings to Indy yesterday were Shawn Zobel of DraftHeadquarters.com and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. It will be interesting to see if the Colts sign Jennings. If they do, Chappell's source has some explaining to do.
For me, I think I trust Mike on this more so than the other two simply because Mike is embedded within the franchise more. It also just seems illogical for the Colts to spend big money on Jennings. If I were Reggie Wayne, who took a pay cut to remain a Colt in 2012, I'd resent the Colts throwing big dollars at Jennings.
Other free agent rumors that may or may not be debunked in the next ten hours or so involve CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora linking the Colts with Paul Kruger, Ed Reed, and 49ers tackle Ricky Jean Francois. This is the first time I've seen Indy connected to Jean Francis, a 6'3, 300 lbs NT-DE.
