The Indianapolis Colts have officially announced the signing Lions right tackle Gosder Cherilus and Cardinals corner Greg Toler. Cherlius will come in and immediately start at right tackle, and is considered a massive upgrade over Winston Justice and any other lineman on the team.
Cherilus only allowed five sacks this season on Matthew Stafford and he graded out as one of the best pass-protectors, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF). This shows that Ryan Grigson and Jim Irsay are serious about protecting Andrew Luck with this signing. Even though they did not get the big names (Andy Levitre, Louis Vasquez, Jake Long), this is an underrated signing that should not cost as much as the top dollar tackles would have.
Anthony Castonzo fits better on the left side than he would on the right. Cherilus comes and solves that possible issue. These two tackles are young and hitting the prime of their careers. Luck is going to be well protected by both of these men for many years to come. I like this signing, a lot.
Greg Toler is a fifth year corner with five career INTs.
