Colts Re-Sign CB Darius Butler, CB Jerraud Powers Likely Gone

After seemingly resurrecting his career last season in Indianapolis, Darius Butler has opted to re-sign with the Colts with a two-year deal, per a report from Pro Football Talk.

Butler confirmed his re-signing with the Colts on Twitter:

The interesting thing about Butler is that, prior to the start of the new league year, Butler took to Twitter and sent this out:

It's unclear who Butler was specifically referring to with his tweet, but it is interesting that he reportedly signed a two-year deal not long after sending it.

Us wackos at Stampede Blue have written more than a few times that re-signing Butler was a priority. Butler apparently caught wind of Josh Wilson's little article and appeared to like it. Score one for Mr. Josh Wilson, folks!

With both Butler and newly signed corner Greg Toler in the fold, it seems as if Jerraud Powers days in a Colts uniform are over. Rumor is he's visiting Arizona and might sign with Bruce Arians and his crew in the desert.

For reasons that mystify me, Powers blocked our blog's handle on Twitter. While supposedly a stand-up guy and well-liked by local media, I always got the sense he was a bit too sensitive to criticism, even if that criticism was valid. All we ever wrote about Jerraud was that he was a solid corner, but injury prone. We even defended him after he got a little huffy with the media last year, when everyone was questioning the talent of the Colts secondary.

We writers obviously wish him well regardless.
