Mock Draft Friday: The Final Edition For The 2013 NFL Draft

We're six days away from the 2013 NFL Draft. Here are three mocks we find fascinating for three different reasons.

Stacy Revere

Accurate Mock

Walter Football

Datone Jones, DE, UCLA
The Colts signed Ricky Jean-Francois to a large deal this offseason, but they could still look to upgrade the defensive line, as the unit doesn't really have a consistent pass-rusher. Cory Redding is there, but he'll be 33 soon and he's due $7 million over the next two seasons. Datone Jones is one of the top prospects available and makes a ton of sense for Indianapolis.

My Comment: Prior to me selecting Jones in the 2013 SB Nation Writers' Mock Draft, I saw nary a mock connecting him to the Colts at No. 24. Since then, EVERYONE has jumped on this bandwagon, including CBS Sports' Dane Brugler and Pat Kirwan. Of course, if Ryan Grigson ends up taking Jones, I will expect full credit for influencing his decision.

Interesting Mock

FOX Sports- Peter Schrager

Barkevious Mingo, DE, LSU
The Colts drafted offensive players with 11 of their 12 picks a season ago. They’ve worked hard this offseason to add a host of talented free agents on the defensive side of the ball, including Erik Walder [Note: Should be 'Walden'], Ricky Jean-Francois, LaRon Landry, Greg Toler, and Aubrayo Franklin. I don’t think they’re done addressing the D. Mingo can play inside or outside LB and can play right away. He has a bit of a mean streak in him, too. Like Eric Reid, he had a better 2011 than 2012.

My comment: Schrager has Mingo falling to Indy while players like safety Eric Reid and offensive tackle Menelik Watson getting drafted ahead of him. I'd be stunned if Mingo falls to the No. 24 spot, but if he does, the Colts absolutely should select him.

Amazing 'WTF?' Mock

Matt Smith- NFL.com

Menelik Watson, OT, Florida State
Sticking with my previous mock on this one, thanks to that poor offensive-line play last season. Andrew Luck is this franchise's future. Protect him.

My comment: Well, if Matt's last mock had Watson in it, it's just as "WTF" as this one is.

Let's see, the Colts just gave Gosder Cherilus a $10 million signing bonus and they have 2011 first rounder Anthony Castonzo (a former teammates of Cherilus' at Boston College) cemented in at left tackle. Yet, despite all this money wrapped up in tackles, and with glaring needs at running back, pass rusher, and in the secondary, the Colts end up drafting... an offensive tackle?

Maybe Watson could slide in and play guard, but Indianapolis has already signed UFA Donald Thomas this offseason.

Bottom line, I don't see them making this move, especially with WR Cordarrelle Patterson and OLB Bjoern Werner still on the board.
