The Indianapolis Colts will hold a press conference at 3:45 PM ET today to introduce 2013 first round draft selection Bjoern Werner. Werner was selected with the No. 24 overall pick Thursday night during the first round of the NFL Draft.

Werner was born in Germany, but played college football at Florida State. As a defensive end, he earned 13 sacks in 2012, leading the ACC. The Colts plan to utilize Werner as an outside linebacker in their hybrid 3-4 scheme.

At his press conference at Radio City Music Hall on Thursday, Werner told media he could not promise he'd be the kind of player who can replace former Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney, who was not re-signed before the beginning of the free agent signing period. Freeney is still an unrestricted free agent.

A question that will only get answered once the regular season starts is: How will the Colts utilize Werner? Veteran pass rushing specialist Robert Mathis is designated as the "rush" linebacker in head coach Chuck Pagano's 3-4 scheme, while free agent acquisition Erik Walden was signed to play the other starting linebacker position.

One option is to have Werner rotate in for Walden on pass rushing rushing downs.

The press conference for Werner will be streamed live on Colts.com.
