The Colts officially ink Heyward-Bey to a contract that pays him $1.5 million in bonus money and $1 million in base salary.

Earlier today, we posted a link to the NFLPA's updated salary cap numbers for all 32 NFL teams, including the Indianapolis Colts. However, it seemed as though the Colts' deal for free agent receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey was not part of their calculation.

Indianapolis was listed as having $11,427,345 at the time of our first NFLPA-salary cap article. Since then, the Colts have announced that Heyward-Bey has signed his contract with the team, which is a $2.5 million deal with $1.5 million in bonus money and $1 million in base salary:

True to their word, the NFLPA updated their salary cap chart, and the Indianapolis Colts are now listed as having $9,407,345 in cap space. However, they are still listing 49 contracts on the books.

Regardless of whether the contract number is accurate or not, the decrease of $2,020,000 in cap space suggests the Heyward-Bey contract is done and on the books, so to speak. This means the Colts have roughly $1.4 million to play with if they want to sign another veteran player before the NFL Draft.
