Report: Colts Schedule Private Workout With Elon WR Aaron Mellette

Colts are looking at a small school receiver prospect from Elon University.

USA TODAY Sports

Just because the Colts signed free agent receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey doesn't mean they'll avoid the wide receiver position in the 2013 NFL Draft. Per Gil Brandt of NFL.com, the Colts have scheduled a private workout with Elon University's Aaron Mellette, the 6'3, 218 lb receiver who ran a 4.45 40 time at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine.

Per Brandt, Mellette worked out previously at North Carolina State’s pro day as well as the combine. The Baltimore Ravens have also shown interest in Mellette.

Mellette was also the first Elon football player to ever earn an invitation to the Senior Bowl. He's projected as a 5th or 6th round selection due to the fact that... well, he played at Elon University.

No offense to anyone who went there, but I have no clue where that school is. Mellette had 97 catches for 1,408 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2012.

The workout with the Colts is scheduled for April 10th.
