The Displacement of a Jagged Rock

This will probably be the shortest fanpost I have ever written. But, I need to kill 20 minutes so let the fun begin.

As many fans will begin to hear, McGlynn has a left leg injury and will be sitting out of practice and this Saturday's game. While celebrating injuries is, to say the least, inappropriate; it does allow for other talent to be evaluated. And as such, this could be an excellent opportunity for other hard working Colts to displace McGlynn from the starting line up. And, there are four potentials prospects that could make a bid.

Right now, Linkenbach has been announced as the RG starter for Saturday. This comes to no surprise as he is a very experienced back-up that is highly versatile. Given that the 3rd preseason game is a dress rehearsal, the hope is that by plugging him in there, the OLine won't miss a beat. And, for the RG spot, I doubt it will.

Next up is Thornton. Perfect timing for him to come back from his injury. And, boy is he going to get tossed into the fire. As long as nothing crazy happens within the next day or so, he will get time in the first half (most likely) to show his worth. Pagano has already been quoted that he would like Thornton to play a bit in the first, so that the team can evaluate where he stands at the moment. A hopeful sign, even if it is a minor one, that Thornton has a chance to take over the RG spot in due time. He would be very wise to capitalize on this opportunity, and I think many Colt fans would love if he did. He has my vote as the likely candidate to displace McGlynn.

Third potential prospect would be Cleary, as he has been starting at RG for the 2nd stringers. From everything I have heard, he has done very well and shown potential. However, it doesn't look like he will get the nod to go from 2nd string to 1st for Saturdays game. Nonetheless, pending how long McGlynn's injury last, he could capitalize this opportunity if he continues to impress in the 2nd string unit (especially with how much time Thornton has lost). Likely? Probably not; but still a option.

Last but not least would be Ijalana. Drkatos mentioned it in the comment section of one of the front page post, and it is a valid option. I think it is safe to say the coaching staff is looking for options to let Ijalana to show what potential he has. Ijalana could see this as the last attempt to save his job and maybe his NFL career; and really bust his ass to take it. Once again, likely? Not really; but still an option. And, when injuries hit the OLine guys get shifted to try to best fill (IE last season).

Nonetheless, Saturday is going to be an exciting game as we will see the starters for at least a full half. As well as, finally seeing our boy Luck in the 2 minute drill. Hopefully a fire has been lit under RG prospects, and our OLine performance improves. Something to definitely keep an eye on
