It's Thursday, and if a player practices for the Indianapolis Colts on a Thursday before a Saturday or Sunday game, the chances are pretty high that said player will play.
Colts safety LaRon Landry practiced today, which means all signs are GO for the seventh-year safety to make his Indianapolis Colts debut against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday.
Landry was signed as an unrestricted free agent during the offseason after having a Pro Bowl season with the New York Jets. G.M. Ryan Grigson signed Landry to a four-year, $24 million contract with $11 million guaranteed. Head coach Chuck Pagano has called Landry a "game-wrecker," and believes Landry will act as a difference maker in his 3-4 defensive scheme.
The Colts defense has looked shaky in the first two preseason games at stopping the run, which was a point of emphasis for Pagano and defensive coordinator Greg Manusky during the offseason and training camp. The popular thought is that Landry's presence in the defensive backfield will help clean up the run defense, which has consistently been at or near the bottom of the league rankings going back to 2007.
