Tonight, NFL football finally returns.
I know, I know - it's just preseason. BUT IT'S ACTUAL FOOTBALL!!!
Tonight, the 2013 NFL season gets underway as the Dallas Cowboys take on the Miami Dolphins in the annual Hall of Fame game (8:00 P.M., NBC). The Hall of Fame game always comes after the Hall of Fame induction (which was last night) and is the first preseason game each year. The Colts actually played in it in 2008 against the Redskins, a game they lost without the injured Peyton Manning (there's your historical nugget for the day).
Tonight, it's the Cowboys against the Dolphins. Quarterback Tony Romo likely won't play for the Cowboys, and wide receiver Mike Wallace likely won't play for the Dolphins. Either way, the starters won't be playing that much, as is typical in the preseason.
I'm usually not a huge fan of preseason football at all unless it's the Colts or a certain legendary Colts quarterback coming off of major, career-threatening neck surgery with a new team... but I watch preseason anyway (such as a game between the Cowboys and Dolphins). Because, for all of us football deprived people here, FOOTBALL IS FINALLY BACK!!!!!!!!!!
And as you watch the game tonight, consider this your open thread.
And remember - just one week from today at about this time, I'll be writing an actual Colts game recap instead of an open thread for a Cowboys/Dolphins game.
We've made it. The NFL season is here once again. And there was much rejoicing.
