Colts List Five Starters On Friday's Injury Report

The Colts' injury report kind of got lost in the news of Vick Ballard's season ending injury, and understandably so. That's a season-ending one. But more short term, there are other injured players of note on the Colts' injury report Friday, including five starters.

Obviously, Vick Ballard is out Sunday, and for the next fourteen-plus Sundays after that too. Wide receiver / kick returner David Reed is also listed as out for the second straight week, although this week he is on the injury report with a quad injury after being out with a concussion the previous week.

Listed as questionable are some significant names to Colts' fans. Tight end Dwayne Allen (hip), inside linebacker Kavell Conner (ankle), inside linebacker Jerrell Freeman (quad), and outside linebacker Erik Walden (hamstring). Allen is the only player who did not practice today that is not already ruled out for Sunday. I haven't had a good feeling about him playing this Sunday all week, and that fact just adds to it. I doubt Allen plays Sunday, but we'll see.

Jerrell Freeman and Kavell Conner were limited today. Conner "looked okay," per Chuck Pagano. Erik Walden was a full participant on Friday after being limited Thursday. My guess is that Walden plays. I really haven't gotten a feeling either way on Freeman or Conner.

Pat Angerer, who missed last week with a concussion, was a full participant again for the third straight day and is listed as probable.

Either way, it's never good to see five starters on the injury report heading into week two (Ballard, Allen, Freeman, Walden, Angerer). For a team like the Colts, who don't have great depth, the starters playing is really important. It sounds like some of these players listed on the injury report will definitely play on Sunday, however, so hold off on freaking out until we see who exactly plays. All we know for sure is that Vick Ballard and David Reed won't be.
