Colts Injuries: LB Pat Angerer Listed As OUT Against 49ers

Pat Angerer's knee injury will sideline him for Week 3 when the Colts take on the 49ers.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Pat Angerer's knee injury will sideline him for Week 3 when the Colts take on the 49ers. Angerer's name showed up on the injury report this week following his 11 tackle performance in the Colts' Week 3 loss to the Dolphins. Angerer missed Week One against the Raiders with a concussion, as well as five games last season with a foot injury.

Pat Angerer. Out for another game. Sigh.

When people sometimes ask me "Why do you hate Angerer so much?" I respond to them by saying:

A) I don't "hate" anyone on the Colts roster, (except maybe Anthony Castonzo because I keep wanting to spell his name Castanzo... grrrrrrrrr!) and

B) I don't think Angerer is a bad player. I just think he's injury prone.

Angerer missing two of three games to start the season, in addition to all the time he missed last year with the foot injury, should hopefully give you insight as to why I would think that.

The positive is that inside linebacker Kavell Conner will likely play on Sunday. He'd missed the first two games of the season recovering from an ankle injury he'd sustained in the fourth preseason game this year against the Bengals. Conner is more versatile than Angerer, and, when paired with Jerrell Freeman, Conner can make plays. Kelvin Sheppard could also see some snaps at inside backer.

Starting safety LaRon Landry is also listed as OUT. He has an ankle injury. Look for Joe Lefeged to fill in at free safety for Landry.
