2013 NFL Winning Stats Predictor: Game Picks Week 1

Picks sure to go wrong! We're back with the Winning Stats Predictor, complete with picks for Week 1.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The Winning Stats Predictor is back for a new season, and a fresh start is just what it needs. Last year was a sub-par season picking games, and the hope is that a few minor changes will help it out in 2013. Last year picking winners the Predictor was 130-119-7, and Against the Spread it was 122-127-7, a paltry 49%. Not good if your goal is to win money in Vegas.

For those of you new I'll be posting my picks based on our Winnings stats each week, complete with a Probability of win. For my Against the Spread record, I'll be using the Las Vegas Super Contest lines, since lines change so much leading up to games. The goal is 55%, which I've hit in the past. It's off to a good start, nailing the Broncos -7.5 last night fairly easily. Here are the rest of the Week 1 picks:

Home Score Away Score Probability
Broncos 27 Ravens 18 72.5%
Bills 20 Patriots 28 70.9%
Steelers 20 Titans 16 61.6%
Jets 17 Buccaneers 20 57.8%
Saints 25 Falcons 26 51.1%
Jaguars 22 Chiefs 16 64.8%
Panthers 25 Seahawks 31 66.4%
Bears 18 Bengals 16 55.1%
Browns 21 Dolphins 20 52.2%
Lions 23 Vikings 28 61.9%
Colts 26 Raiders 22 61.2%
Rams 20 Cardinals 12 70.7%
49ers 27 Packers 26 50.1%
Cowboys 25 Giants 27 54.5%
Redskins 32 Eagles 22 73.9%
Chargers 23 Texans 22 52.1%

I'll also be keeping track of my progress as if I paid the $1500 to play in the LVH SuperContest, just to see how I'm doing. Here are the five picks I'll be going with this week:

  • Jaguars +4 vs. Chiefs
  • Seahawks -3.5 at Panthers
  • Vikings +5.5 at Lions
  • Raiders +9.5 at Colts
  • Redskins -3.5 vs. Redskins
