Colts Inactives vs. Bengals: Arthur Jones is Out

Here are the inactives for the Colts' game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Andy Lyons

At 1:00 p.m. this afternoon, the Indianapolis Colts will take the field at Lucas Oil Stadium for their game against the Cincinnati Bengals.  Before we watch the players on the field, however, let's take a look at those who won't be today.  The Colts have announced their inactives for the game, and here's the list:

CB Darius Butler

OLB Victor Butler

OL Lance Louis

OL Khaled Holmes

OL Jamon Meredith

DL Kelcy Quarles

DL Arthur Jones

A few thoughts...

  • We knew on Friday that Darius Butler wouldn't play due to his ankle injury.
  • We also knew on Friday that Arthur Jones was questionable, and while he returned to practice this week he just wasn't quite back and ready enough to play today.  It seems likely, however, that if everything goes well he should return to the playing field next Sunday.  It's no surprise that he's out today, but he's close to returning.  This just gives him another week to recover.
  • Another week, another inactive list that includes Khaled Holmes.  And I bet it'll be another week with people asking me why that is.  We've gone over it before, but ultimately the team sees Jonotthan Harrison as a better potential option for being the long-term center than Holmes, and I agree.  I think it's a good move.  A.Q. Shipley is the backup, and that leaves Holmes inactive.  It makes perfect sense.
  • When was the last time the Colts were able to have three healthy inactives along the offensive line?  It's a good sign that the starters are healthy and that there is depth there that is healthy too.
