Colts Thursday Injury Report: Gosder Cherilus Misses Practice Again

New, comments

Here's your Thursday Colts injury report.

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Yesterday, the Colts had four starters miss practice (one due to rest), so today's is much better - only one starter missed practice today (Gosder Cherilus).  The Colts returned to the practice field to continue preparations for their big matchup against the New England Patriots.  Let's take a look at the full injury report today:

Gosder Cherilus, OL (groin) - did not practice

Arthur Jones, DL (ankle) - limited practice

Erik Walden, OLB (quad) - limited practice

Reggie Wayne, WR (rest Wednesday) - full practice

Victor Butler, OLB (hamstring) - full practice

Henoc Muamba, LB (toe) - full practice

Josh McNary, LB (ankle) - full practice

A few notes...

  • It's good news that Arthur Jones and Erik Walden returned to practice today, if only in a limited role.  It's still very much unknown as to whether either of them will be available in the game, but at least they're making progress after both missing practice completely yesterday.
  • Reggie Wayne returned to practice after his typical Wednesday rest day.
  • The only player who didn't practice at all today was Gosder Cherilus, who missed for the second consecutive game with a groin injury.  We don't know his status for Sunday's game yet either, but there's a legitimate chance that he could miss.  It would be the first game that the starting right tackle has missed in his year and a half with the team, but for the Colts it might not be a terrible thing.  Cherilus has struggled mightily this year and has been the weakest link along the line, so it's entirely possible that Joe Reitz or Xavier Nixon (who have both been getting work at right tackle in Cherilus' absence this week) could step in and play well.  I don't think losing Cherilus for the game would be a huge loss for the Colts, though of course you always want players to be healthy if possible.
  • Victor Butler and Henoc Muamba both were full participants today after being limited yesterday.
