It was 5:15 a.m. in Indianapolis as Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton slept comfortably in his room in the team hotel. The previous night, before he had gone to bed, he had turned down his cell phone because he figured no one would need to contact him. Even after his hotel room phone rang twice, "I thought somebody was punking me," Hilton said, via the Indianapolis Star's Gregg Doyel. But soon, a knock came at the hotel room door by a team employee.
It turns out that Hilton's wife Shantrell, who was pregnant with the couple's first daughter and due December 15, went into labor. Hilton quickly rushed over to the hospital, and at 7:30 a.m. the Hiltons, who have two sons, welcomed the arrival of their daughter Eugenia.
Roughly an hour before kickoff of the Colts' game against the Jaguars, Hilton arrived at Lucas Oil Stadium. He suited up, was announced with the starting offense, and then went to work. Running on pure adrenaline, Hilton had yet another impressive day, catching 4 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. With his fifth 100+ yard receiving performance of the season Hilton went over 1,000 yards on the year for the second straight season.
It was midway through the third quarter of a game in which the Colts offense was struggling that quarterback Andrew Luck connected with Hilton for a 73-yard touchdown - tying the longest throw and longest catch for Luck and Hilton in their short careers. Hilton raced into the end zone and paid tribute to his newborn daughter as he cradled the football as if it was a baby.

After the game, an emotional Hilton received the game ball from head coach Chuck Pagano, met with the media for a few minutes, and then headed over to the hospital to visit his wife and daughter.

A big congratulations to T.Y., his wife, and the rest of their family as they celebrate the birth of their daughter Eugenia. And after a good win and an impressive performance by T.Y. Hilton, he will celebrate in the hospital with his family celebrating someone of infinitely more value than a football game. Luckily for the Colts, Hilton was able to play and play well anyway today, and it just made for a very eventful day for the Colts' star.
