Earlier today, Mike Florio of PFT reported, via a league source, that cornerback Vontae Davis was close to agreeing to a deal with a team NOT named the Indianapolis Colts. It seems that NFL Draft insider Tony Pauline of DraftInsider.net might have some info on who that team is.
Word amongst insiders is the New York Jets are going hard after cornerback Vontae Davis.

The Jets make sense as a suitor in that they just released corner Antonio Cromartie and that Davis, who started his career with the Dolphins, knows the AFC East well.
Both Florio's and Pauline's reports come nearly 24 hours after CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported that a deal was close between the Colts and Davis, with Monday (today) being the day both sides would agree on a contract extension.
Going to go out on a limb and say that La Canfora's source(s) on that report were probably full of it.
Oh, and speaking of Jets corners, here's something else worth noting:
Again, @TBBuccaneers really trying hard to trade Darrelle Revis. Hoping to strike a deal pretty quickly. Not sure of suitors yet

I'm not saying, or even suggesting, this is a viable Plan B for the Colts should Davis walk. I'm just noting that it's interesting.
