News broke this morning that Colts owner Jim Irsay was arrested Sunday night in Carmel, IN for driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance.

The Colts' mercurial, boisterous owner has had his issues with drugs and alcohol in the past. In 2002, he checked himself into a rehab clinic so that he could receive help for his apparent addiction to painkillers. As recently as October of last year, Irsay tweeted out that he hadn't had a drink of alcohol in 15 years.
Obviously, this incident is very embarrassing for an owner that is vocal on social media platforms, like Twitter. Irsay has also had many public run-ins with media, as well as his feud with one-time quarterback Peyton Manning. Irsay would later release Manning following a very emotional press conference featuring both men standing side-by-side.
Irsay had hip surgery last year, and, after he had lost a visible amount of weight, there was local speculation that "something was wrong" with him. The reality:
A couple of months ago, Jim told me his weight loss was intentional, was trying to keep strain off his bad back. Just FYI

Last report was Irsay was still being held in custody. He's been the owner of the Indianapolis Colts since 1997, when his father, Robert Irsay, passed. Like Jim, Robert Irsay also had his battles with addiction.
