Following his release from jail after posting a $22,500 bond, Colts owner Jim Irsay sent out this tweet to followers:
Deepest thx to family, friends, fans, colleagues for the messages of support, thoughts and prayers. Impossible to tell u how much this means

The question now is if/when will NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell impose punishment on Irsay for his arrest last night for driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance. Goodell has the authority to suspend and fine Irsay just as if Irsay were a player.
The NFLPA is taking an active interest in how Goodell proceeds with this. The commissioner has come down hard on several players in the past whose actions similar to Irsay's outside of football have fallen under the NFL's conduct detrimental to the league policy. The difference here is that Goodell works for Irsay and the 31 other men who own NFL team's in this league.
Falcons wide receiver Roddey White has been especially vocal on social media on how the league should deal with Irsay:
I want to see what the NFL does about this Jim Irsay situation if a player loses a game check no matter the amount he should lose a game day

I'm guessing a million dollar fine will come which is nothing to a man that makes billions

…cont) seen it with Irsay.

I don't think Irsay is a bad guy I actually like him as an owner but it was a bad mistake

Goodell can administer punishment even if Irsay is not found guilty of a crime, or even if he isn't charged.
The Colts owner potentially faces four felony counts of possession and and one misdemeanor count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
