Despite massive roster holes at center, guard, safety, corner, and nose tackle, it seems the Colts are done spending money of veteran free agents despite the team having roughly $14 million in cap space. Instead, the organization's focus has shifted toward the 2014 NFL Draft.
Since the college pro days started, the Colts have been active in attending most of the major ones. In particular, head coach Chuck Pagano has spent time on the road, attending the USC and Arizona State pro days.
Here is a quick rundown on pro days and players that the Colts attended and showed interest in:
- USC Pro Day: Pagano himself attended and was seen studying center Marcus Martin and the rest of USC's offensive linemen. Story via NFL.com.
- Arizona State Pro Day: Pagano was in attendance and was presumably there to watch defensive end Will Sutton. Story via Gil Brandt.
- Oregon Pro Day: Colts defensive line coach Gary Emmanuel attended and spent time working with defensive lineman Tyler Hart, working at both DE and OLB. Story via CBSSports.com.
- Oregon State Pro Day: Colts officials attended and worked with linebacker Scott Crichton. Story via Tony Pauline.
- U. of San Diego Pro Day: Colts attended, but not sure which player(s) they were scouting. Story via Stefanie Loy at U-T San Diego.
- U. of Nevada: Colts officials attended and worked out Joel Bitonio at both left tackle and guard. Story via Gil Brandt.
- U. of Maine: Colts officials attended and interviewed corner Kendall James. Story via Corey Brewer at FanSided.com.
