Stampede Blue's stupid early guess for the 2014 Colts 53-man roster

Spoilers: Griff Whalen gets cut.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

QB (2): Andrew Luck, Matt Hasselbeck

Comments: Luck continues to develop into a top-3 NFL passer.

RB (5): Trent Richardson, Vick Ballard, Ahmad Bradshaw, Stanley Havili, Dan Herron

Comments: Richardson is the workhorse as Ballard and Bradshaw are still working themselves back from injury. Havili is the designated fullback while Boom Herron is there for special teams.

WR (6): Reggie Wayne, T.Y. Hilton, Hakeem Nicks, Donte Moncreif*, Da'Rick Rogers, LaVon Brazill

Comments: This is a very deep group. The top five are obvious keepers. I've opted for Brazill over Griff Whalen because, quite simply, Brazill is more talented.

TE (3): Dwayne Allen, Coby Fleener, Jack Doyle

Comments: Allen is the primary tight end while Fleener is basically there in case Allen gets hurt again. Doyle is an HB/FB with some special teams use.

OL (9): Anthony Castonzo, Gosder Cherilus, Hugh Thornton, Jack Mewhort*, Khaled Holmes, Joe Reitz, Donald Thomas, Lance Louis, [Waiver Claim]

Comments: Khaled Holmes is the starting center, but his back-up will likely be someone not yet on the roster. I'm thinking Thornton and Mewhort will battle it out at right guard.

NT (1): Josh Chapman

Comments: Chapman is the only designated nose tackle, but I expect Montori Hughes to play some NT as well in 2014.

DE (4): Cory Redding, Arthur Jones, Rick Jean-Francois, Montori Hughes,

Comments: Jones and Redding are the stalwarts with RJF and Hughes sub in.

OLB (6): Robert Mathis (suspended), Bjoern Werner, Erik Walden, Andy Studebaker, Cam Johnson, Jonathan Newsome*

Comments: Mathis is suspended for the first five games of the 2014 season. While suspended, his roster spot is open and the Colts can opt to sign a player to their active roster.

ILB (4): D'Qwell Jackson, Jerrell Freeman, Josh McNary, Kelvin Sheppard

Comments: McNary is the wildcard here. He seems to have made strides this offseason and should hopefully see some snaps in certain packages.

CB (5): Vontae Davis, Greg Toler, Darius Butler, Josh Gordy, Sheldon Price

Comments: This group is thin. Toler is injury prone, Butler is a slot corner only, and Gordy is plain terrible. Price is an interesting second-year player.

S (5): LaRon Landry, Mike Adams, Delano Howell, Sergio Brown, Colt Anderson

Comments: Brown and Anderson are special teams players. Adams and Howell will battle to start next to Landry even though both Adams and Howell are better players than Landry.

ST (3): Adam Vinatieri, Pat McAfee, Matt Overton

Comments: Vinny kicks the field goals. McAfee punts the ball. Overton snaps it to them. The end.
