I'll just come right out and say it - I haven't bought a Madden game in a few years, and I've hardly played it for the past two years. It's not that I don't like it, but instead that I spend much of my "football time" watching film and writing articles (I know, I'm a nerd). For many football fans, however, the release of the Madden NFL video game every year is just as big as the arrival of football season. Because of how many avid Madden players there are awaiting the release of this year's edition on August 26th, we're bringing you the ratings of the entire Colts roster, as were revealed a couple of days on the Madden website. Here you go:
Of note is that two Colts cracked the top-five in their respective positions, and interestingly both are on the defensive side of the ball. Robert Mathis (the highest rated Colt) was tied for the third best outside linebacker with Justin Houston and Lavonte David, with all three of them coming in with a 93 overall rating (only Von Miller and Aldon Smith were rated higher, with both having an overall of 96). Also, cornerback Vontae Davis is a top-five player at his position in the game, coming in with a 92 rating behind only Richard Sherman (99), Darrelle Revis (97), Joe Haden (95), and Patrick Peterson (93). Pretty good company for Davis, and for Mathis as well.
Look, Madden ratings don't mean a whole lot in terms of analysis of the actual football side of things, though they do give an idea and are fun to look at anyway - especially for those of you who love playing Madden. We know that not everything is accurate (such as Tom Brady being rated the same as Russell Wilson and both being quite a ways ahead of Andrew Luck), but you can always change that by just editing the ratings. Seriously, though, I don't put much actual stock in the Madden ratings, but they're interesting and fun to look at, and so why not?
Here you have it, Madden players - the above roster and ratings are what you'll be playing with this year (because of course you'll be playing as the Colts, right?). What are your thoughts?
