There were a lot of guys on the injury report yesterday (12) and there even more today (14), but that's nothing to really be concerned about for the most part. Many of the players today were full participants in practice. Let's look at the injury report for Thursday:
Darius Butler, CB (neck) - full practice
Jerrell Freeman, LB (hamstring) - did not practice
Ricky Jean Francois, DL (ankle) - limited practice
Arthur Jones, DL (ankle) - did not practice
Joe Reitz, OL (ankle) - limited practice
Ahmad Bradshaw, RB (rest Wednesday) - full practice
D'Qwell Jackson, LB (rest Wednesday) - full practice
Reggie Wayne, WR (rest Wednesday) - full practice
LaRon Landry, S (rest Wednesday) - full practice
T.Y. Hilton, WR (groin) - full practice
Greg Toler, CB (ribs) - limited practice
Khaled Holmes, C (ankle) - full practice
Vontae Davis, CB (rest) - did not practice
Hakeem Nicks, WR (illness) - did not practice
Some thoughts:
- The changes from yesterday: all of those who rested yesterday were full participants today. Darius Butler and T.Y. Hilton were both limited yesterday but full participants today. Ricky Jean Francois and Joe Reitz didn't practice yesterday but were limited today.
- Regarding Reitz, that's encouraging news that he was back on the practice field today in at least a limited role. I'm still not sure how much longer he will miss, but it's encouraging at least that he's starting to get back out there.
- The Colts are still hoping that Jerrell Freeman can play on Sunday, but considering that he didn't practice yesterday or today, I'm not sure how likely that is.
- Another very encouraging sign for the Colts is that Khaled Holmes was a full participant for the second straight day. That likely means that his ankle responded well to the full practice yesterday and it's looking very likely that he'll make his first career NFL start and season debut on Sunday.
