Report: Titans Will Start Charlie Whitehurst at QB vs. Colts

According to reports, the Tennessee Titans will start Charlie Whitehurst at quarterback in place of the injured Jake Locker versus the Colts today.

Ever since Titans starting quarterback Jake Locker was injured last week, his status for today's game against the Colts was uncertain.  By the time we made it to Friday, it was looking very likely that he wouldn't play.  Now, on this game day morning, it's looking like that is indeed the case.  According to a couple of different reports, the Titans plan to start Charlie Whitehurst at quarterback against the Colts in place of the injured Jake Locker (as expected).

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Barring a surprising improvement, <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Titans?src=hash">#Titans</a> QB Jake Locker (wrist) won’t play today vs. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Colts?src=hash">#Colts</a>, I’m told. Whitehurst has not thrown a pass in a regular season game since 2011.  While neither Locker nor Whitehurst are close to being a top QB, it's pretty clear that Locker would have been the better option for the Titans if he could have gone.  Of course, the news has fantasy implications, too.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Colts D a top 10 play RT <a href="https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter">@AdamSchefter</a>: Tennessee will start QB Charlie Whitehurst in place of the injured Jake Locker today at Indianapolis</p>&mdash; Matthew Berry (@MatthewBerryTMR) <a href="https://twitter.com/MatthewBerryTMR/status/516201714022875136">September 28, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Perhaps the more significant news (since it looked likely most of the week that Locker wouldn't play) is the report from Adam Schefter that tight end Delanie Walker WILL play.  Through three games, Walker already has 17 catches for 233 yards and 2 touchdowns.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Titans TE Delanie Walker, listed as questionable with a shoulder injury, will play today vs. Colts.</p>&mdash; Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) <a href="https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/516158906666860545">September 28, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Of course, the Colts have injury concerns themselves.  Starting linebacker Jerrell Freeman and starting defensive end Arthur Jones were both ruled out on Friday, and then starting guard Hugh Thornton was listed as doubtful.  We should have the inactive list a bit over an hour before the game (1:00 p.m. eastern time).
