In an hour, the Indianapolis Colts will kick off their 2014 season in Denver against the Broncos. But first, who won't play tonight for Indianapolis? Here's the list:
WR Da'Rick Rogers
RB Zurlon Tipton
S Sergio Brown
LB Henoc Muamba
C Khaled Holmes
OL Joe Reitz
DL Montori Hughes
Here are some thoughts on the in actives:
- The biggest player on this list is starting center Khaled Holmes, who is inactive tonight. He missed the past four weeks after being injured in the first preseason game, and only returned to practice this Wednesday and Thursday in a limited role. He didn't practice on Friday and then was officially questionable for the game, and many doubted he would play. He won't. Instead, center A.Q. Shipley, who was signed by the Colts a week ago today, will start for the team on Sunday Night Football against the Broncos.
- Since many have already asked, Da'Rick Rogers is inactive because he's the sixth wide receiver. It was expected.
- Sergio Brown being inactive was already known (he didn't make the trip with the team) and it won't impact the defense as much but will have a big role on special teams, as he's a great gunner and Pat McAfee and the punt team will miss him.
- Joe Reitz was also ruled out earlier this week and will probably be out for a couple of weeks.
