Colts Issue Statement Regarding Josh McNary

New, comments

The Indianapolis Colts did the right thing by getting in front of the news about Josh McNary being charged with rape by issuing a statement this evening, though they are still in the process of gathering information.

If you haven't yet heard, this afternoon Colts linebacker Josh McNary was formally charged with rape.  The news reportedly caught the Colts completely off guard, as ESPN's Mike Wells reported:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>The Josh McNary news obviously caught the Colts off guard. He was seen walking around the locker room during the media portion today.</p>&mdash; Mike Wells (@MikeWellsNFL) <a href="https://twitter.com/MikeWellsNFL/status/555483212986982403">January 14, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Because it caught the Colts off guard the organization really doesn't have a ton of information on it yet, but they did the smart thing by getting out in front of this news by issuing a statement just moments ago (again per Wells on twitter).  Here's the full statement from the Colts:

"We are aware that there has been a report about Josh McNary, but unfortunately that's the limit of our knowledge.  "At this time we are very concerned and trying to find out what the relevant facts are, but we have insufficient information to venture any opinion. As we learn more we will make appropriate updates."

We will continue to follow this story, so stay tuned for updates.
